Community Shoutout : Celebrate AMERI’KANA

Few Kansas City festivals embody the idea of community quite like Celebrate AMERI’KANA. Created by Kansas City’s own Latin Grammy-nominated band Making Movies, the free music and arts festival brings together local, national, and youth performers to celebrate the many cultures, sounds, and traditions that have shaped American music. Held in the Historic Northeast at Concourse Park, AMERI’KANA is rooted in accessibility, cultural connection, and the belief that music can bring people together across backgrounds and borders. The festival also directly supports Art as Mentorship, a Kansas City nonprofit that provides year-round music mentorship and creative opportunities for young artists.

This year marked another big chapter for Celebrate AMERI’KANA, with the festival continuing to offer a free day of music, arts, family activities, vendors, and community programming. The 2025 festival drew approximately 2,500 people across two stages and featured a diverse lineup alongside cultural performances and community activities, continuing AMERI’KANA’s mission of making Kansas City’s arts scene more welcoming and accessible.
