FOREST PORRIDGE

Forest Porridge is based in Denver, CO and consists of songwriter, singer, & guitarists Colin Martin and drummer Daniel Costello. The group's sound consists of intricate finger picking with soulful honest vocal accompaniment to convey feelings and stories to listeners; equipped with a number of different tone effects the sounds created can be expansive but at the same time be very intimate and honest with listeners. Paired with percussion rooted within latin and jazz style playing, the duo creates dynamic moving soundscapes for audiences.
Forest Porridge began as Colin’s solo project as he grew up in Bonner Springs, KS. Colin began self-releasing EP’s from the years 2013-15. Following up the EP’s were his singles “Erode”(2016) & “Next To My Dog” (2019) plus the 2017 album Penumbra. In February of 2020 Forest Porridge signed to Manor Records and released a series of in-studio live sessions that formed into the release of the EP Live at Colorado Sound Studios. Since joining Manor, the duo has also contributed to our fundraiser compilation & has performed a few live stream fundraiser events.
Talking to Myself was written and recorded by band frontman Colin Martin in his apartment over the first few months of quarantine. The group experiments with sonic layers and textures that are new to the Forest Porridge sound we’ve come to know. Beating drum machines, bass guitar riffs, & smooth synthesizers seem to have amplified the band’s songwriting soundscape.
