FLOODING

(LAWRENCE)

Flooding is a three-piece band based in Lawrence, Kansas. Fronted by guitarist and vocalist Rose Brown, who began releasing music in 2019 under the name Window Seat, Flooding is a perfect storm of breathy, floating vocals and heavy, dissonant melodies. Their debut record was written in its entirety before the band officially formed in February 2020 when Brown first introduced her ideas to bassist Cole Billings and drummer Zach Cunningham (members of Guest Service). Soon thereafter, the band began recording their first LP in Cunningham’s garage and released it on August 29, 2021.

The project’s ethereal and hardcore influences are apparent - “the trio melts atmospheric drone over clean percussion until buzzing guitars crash over the ethereal vocals. At least until we get some harsh screams that hit like a sucker-punch” (Nathan Cardiff, Manor Records). The high contrast of their sound is the underpinning of the band’s intense emotionality. “The band's intuitive soft-loud dynamics are not only demonstrated through their whispers and screams, but also in moments where Brown's slowcore guitar plucking is abruptly interrupted by fuzz pedal, space rock blasts she and her band hit in unison” (Aaron Rhodes, Shuttlecock Music Magazine).

Flooding just announced the physical release of the “Self-titled” album on limited edition cassette via Manor Records that is officially out 02.19.22. Pre-order available here!
