FLOODING - “FLOODING” SELF-TITLED LP

Flooding’s self-titled debut is 37 minutes of haunting heaviness. Their brooding shoegaze never rushes to the hooks or harmonies that are scattered throughout. The trio melts atmospheric drone over clean percussion until buzzing guitars crash over the ethereal vocals. At least until we get some harsh screams that hit like a sucker-punch. You can get lost in the softly floating vocals and miss something like “I’ll fucking kill you” on “Insure Me, Procure Me.” But then Flooding breaks the hypnotic tunes by slamming the song in your face. It might be too cornball to use the term “heavy-gaze” but Flooding has the perfect balance. A delightful doom.

Favorite Tracks: “I Want To Go There With You,” “Priestess,” & “Delayed Gratification”
